The first visiting youth group to participate in the community ministries program this summer drove all the way from First Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to be at our church for an intense week of service and reflection about faith. They were a fantastic group of eight high school youth and two fabulous sponsors. They tackled the demands of the week with maturity and a wonderful sense of humor (especially during our frequent bouts of getting lost on the way to various places). We served lunch every day at the Stewpot and helped with the Summer Day Camp program in the afternoons, as well as volunteering at Genesis Women’s Shelter, Vogel Alcove, Grace Presbyterian Village, and taking a tour of nearby Austin Street Shelter.
