The Children and Youth Programs at The Stewpot are unique in that there is potential for a long-term relationship with children from a very early age through college:
A relationship of trust is established with children ages 6 through 12 who attend our Saturday School and Summer Children’s Day Camp programs. Saturday School is a 9 month educational and recreational program for the children who attend City Park Elementary School (grades 1-6). Summer Children’s Day Camp provides 8 weeks of structured activities during summer school vacation.
That relationship is strengthened from ages 12 through 18, as teenagers participate in Venturing Crew and Summer Junior Day Camp. The Venturing Crew program targets youth grades 7th through 12th. Summer Junior Day Camp continues investigations of careers and adventures during 8 weeks of summer vacation.
Community Ministries Scholarships are an ongoing incentive for continuing education, up to $2,000/year to any youth who chooses to go to college and who has participated in any one of our youth outreach programs.
The Summer Visiting Youth program adds a homeless awareness and social mission education component for a cross section of youth from across the country. The Youth Communication Project, co-sponsored with The Dallas Morning News and Texas Women’s University, offers communications students a week long college experience, resulting in a newsprint publication.
Homelessness and poverty does not need to be the future of our children and youth.
