Stewpot Enterprises
Entrepreneurial training and job development insures self esteem for clients who want to create their own road out of poverty. Building on the success of The Stewpot Art program and Streetzine homeless newspaper, STEP clients (Stewpot Transitional Employment Program clients) are given the opportunity to participate in sheltered workshop activities.
Stewpot “enterprises” include assembling bean soup, packaging Stewpot note cards, and participating in other workshop activities which offer group interaction, problem solving, and income opportunities.
The Stewpot Kitchen is available for entrepreneurial ventures such as candy making and pickling who need commercial kitchen facilities. Print kitchen reservation form or contact the Director of Food Services at 214-746-2785 ext. 218.
Partner agency, Dallas Heritage Village, uses STEP clients to renovate historic structures on their grounds. Sponsorships provide stipens to workers to restore these structures.
