Representative Payee
The Stewpot Representative Payee Program is a proactive effort to keep clients living independently. Federal benefits assistance is often required by Social Security Administration in order for our program partcipants to receive funds.
The program provides free caseworker assistance to persons suffering from mentally illness, chemically dependency, or physically disabilities, and who are unable to manage their federal benefits independently, including Social Security, Supplemental Security, or Supplemental Security Disability.
The Stewpot provides free representative payee services and is actively recruiting volunteers to serve as independent advocates for at-risk clients. For clients to qualify for this service they must be working with a collaborating mental health agency.
In many instances, paying rent and bills exhausts the client’s entire budget. In such cases, caseworkers arrange for the client to receive regular supplies of groceries and clothing from Crossroads Community Services, an alliance agency located at The Stewpot.
For Representative Payee assistance, ask to meet with a caseworker to inquire about availability. Call or email the caseworker in charge of the Representative Payee program at 214-746-2785 ext. 241.
